My name is Daniel Tallman, and I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 80 in Park Ridge, NJ. I am pursuing the rank of Eagle Scout. This webpage, along with the historical markers that can be found across Park Ridge are my project. I’ve always been very interested in history, and I wanted to exhibit that passion into my Eagle Project. I am currently going into my Senior Year at Park Ridge High School, and I am proud to be the President of both the Executive Student Council and the Thespian Society. I intend to study Linguistics and Education in college.
The markers document ten historical sites in Park Ridge. These sites range from early commercial endeavors to religious landmarks. I invite you to walk the “historical trail” I have created by starting at Mill Pond and ending at what used to be the location of Mittag and Volger. Each marker will guide you to the next. A QR code is on each site marker, and when scanned, will open an internet webpage from the Pascack Historical Society providing more information about the specific site. The webpages with more information on each site can be found without scanning a QR code by simply visiting the Pascack Historical Society’s website, or by clicking “Start Trail” below. An interactive Google Map is below for convenience. Zoom in on one of the historic sites, and click the green icon for an image (if available), or use the walking directions in blue for guidance.
It took approximately seven months to complete this project, and I could not be anymore grateful or proud of my volunteers and sponsors who helped make this possible. Most importantly, I would like to give a sincere thank you to the Board of Trustees of the Pascack Historical Society for all the help and inspiration I needed to get this done. The Society agreed to host my project on their website with “open arms” because of their strong interest in the historical preservation of Park Ridge, New Jersey. I hope you enjoy my Eagle Project, and immerse yourself in the wonderful history of Park Ridge! (Bio info above is current as of 8/10/16)
