“The History of the Pascack Valley Line”

In 1869 the Hackensack and New York Extension Railroad began construction northward from Hackensack into the Pascack Valley. The first train arrived in Hillsdale on Christmas Day in 1869 forever transforming the valley and the surrounding region. Members of the Bergen-Rockland Chapter of the National Railway Historic Society will teach us about the history and influence the New Jersey and New York Railroad had on the towns within the Pascack Valley over the past 160 years.
